Salt dough ornaments are great Christmas gifts, but you can also use the dough to make paper weights, hand or foot print molds, jewelry or whatever else your little heart desires.
The recipe is easy:
4 cups of flour
1 cup salt
1.5 cups of water
Roll the dough out...
and cut with cookie cutters. If you're making ornaments, be sure to make a hole for the ribbon-- we used a straw.
Bake on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for an hour.
A few days later, we used stencil paint to decorate our ornaments. I wrote the year on the back with a paint pen.
The final layer was a coating of spray varnish, and I used a paint pen to add details to a few of my own. (In case you can't tell, the first three are mine.)
