Two For Tuesday: Playlists and Presents

Kate Hart
What is it? Post two of anything: book reviews, pictures, quotes, poems, songs, videos, rants, shout outs, whatever floats your boat. Just connect them somehow. That's it.

I have a new WIP. Right now it's called After the Fall, although I expect that to change, given the popularity of several similar titles, and the fact that it sounds like an angel book. It's not. It's not paranormal at all, actually. The style is much more stream of consciousness than Refuge-- much more the way I wrote as a teen.

To be honest, I feel like I've tapped a vein I thought I'd lost, and I'm crazy excited, but also crazy nervous, because it's writing itself in first person present, which I generally dislike unless it's done very, very well... so here's hoping I'm doing it well (and wow, sorry about that run on sentence-- see what I mean about stream of consciousness?).

However, like Refuge, it has two POV characters, because apparently that's how I roll write. It's also predominantly inspired by these two songs:

"This Mess We're In" by PJ Harvey and Thom Yorke
which, incidentally, is a duet. = 2

"Running Up That Hill" by Placebo
which, incidentally, is a Kate Bush cover. = 2

So 14.5K worth of wordage was accomplishment #1 for the weekend.

Accomplishment #2: Not only surviving Riverfest in Little Rock, but actually having a fantastic time! The tickets were my Mother's Day present, and we only went for the headliners: The Black Crowes. (You're shocked. I know.)

Accomplishment #2.5: Allowing my husband to live after he said, "You dance a lot like Chris Robinson!"
Me: Glare.
Him: "No! I mean in a good way!"

I'd be madder if he were wrong.

I can't find any footage of this weekend's show, but it was great. They played lots of radio hits, which is a bummer but to be expected at a festival. This is actually the third time I've seen them: The first was at Riverfest four years ago, and the second was this show in Fayetteville-- also a Mother's Day gift. :)

Rumor has it they're finishing this tour in December, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of "Shake Your Money Maker," and then going on indefinite hiatus. So if you're a fan, see 'em now.
20th = ... has a 2 in it. It's 2 decades! That counts!

Also, don't forget: You can still enter contests at YA Highway as well as here on my blog!
contests = 2. Check back soon-- I'm updating the post with pictures of what I've made so far!
