Road Trip Wednesday: October's Best Book

Kate Hart
I didn't read a single book in October.

I know.

My excuse is the same as my excuse for not having commented on all of your RTW posts in several weeks - but I hate to make it, because one of my pet peeves is people who think they're busier than everyone else. So let's just say: Working 32 hours a week instead of 10 is kicking my ass.

So! It's looking like my "100 Books in 2010" goal is not going to happen. I think I can still make it to 50 though. And in the meantime, I'll give you a few books I have managed to read this month.

LEAVES by David Ezra Stein
BIG PUMPKIN by Erica Silverman

(If bedtime books counted toward my total, and if I did the bedtime routine instead of the husband, I could reach a goal of over 1000. Really. 3 books per night x 365 days per year = 1095.)

Road Trip Wednesday is a "Blog Carnival," where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. We'd love for you to participate!

  1. Balancing work, reading, writing, AND motherhood is hard. I commend you for even having time to brush your teeth. :)

  2. I think bedtime books count towards your goal.

I feel your pain about the day job kicking your ass. Mine does that daily.

  3. Change always throws off a person's schedule. Those extra 22 hours make a BIG difference! <3

Reading picture books is kind of more important, anyway ;)

  4. yay for picture books. We're reading a lot of "pumpkin soup" right now. The bookfair is at school and I can't wait to freshen up our supply of fall books.
You should get bonus points for getting kids to love books and reading.

  5. 50 books would be huge!
    You must be Superwoman.

  6. Um, you are totes allowed to be busy. My mom recommended a new TV show to me the other day and (after I scared her with a laugh bordering on the hysterical) I said, yeah sure, I have time for that. UM NO. And you are doing WAY more than I am!!

50 books still rawks. (oh and writing 2 rawks harder.)

  7. Sounds like a perfectly reasonable excuse to me! Do what you can, and hold yourself to account where it matters--this is one place that, no matter how much fun it is to read or blog comment, it doesn't. Do the important things first.
