Road Trip Wednesday: Six-Word Memoir

Kate Hart
Writing My Six-Word Memoir
A scene
by Kate Hart

Me: "I could always go cheap and use song lyrics. Like Bob Marley. 'Every little thing's gonna be alright.' But that's lame."

Husband: "Yeah. But don't worry. About a thing."

Me: "I'm not, I.... damnit." *glare*

I have also considered going for the "your mom" joke ("Your mom is a nice lady"), trying to work a pun in there (I failed to even think of an example to reject), listing places I've lived ("Tulsa St. Louis Fayetteville Oxford Nashville... damn, St. Louis is two words!"), and being cheesy ("Family is all that truly matters").

But finally, I've settled on the words I tell myself on a daily basis.
Be patient. Things will work out.

Because they always do, even if not in the way I expect.

  1. This is very true! (Although I don't think a family one would be cheesy at all.) :)

  2. love love love. And HA your husband, always bringing the funny. I also thought about listing all the places I lived, because it's exactly six (for now)!

I think yours is amazing - like, might print it out and paste it to my comp.

  8. Yes yes yes yes yes. Also, if you had gone with a cheesy one I would have totally bought it, from you, only from you. Because you are just that awesome. :D

  9. What an awesome mantra. It's amazing how things really do work out.

Also, I know I'm probably the last person in the world to say this, but I love your blog's new look! :)

  10. I think you're right. They do. It might not seem like it sometimes though.

  11. That's totally what my mom would say, but I have no idea how to be patient so the advice never worked well for me.

    Very cool post!

  14. 6 word memoir: "It's not all about you." While this has more of a negative connotation than I'd like, it's a reminder to not take things so personally. When the Starbucks guy messes up your order, it's not because he hates your face. Things happen... :)

  15. Such a lovely, calming memoir. With so much hope and light. It's the kind of reminder we always need and, coming from you, couldn't sound more beautiful.

  16. Ummm, I was informed my "It's not all about you," was a 5 word sentence. Did I forget how to count? It's not all about you = It is not all about you = 6 words. I just need some reassurance because as a business major where counting wasn't stressed in college, I might have made a mistake. :)
