Road Trip Wednesday: Musical Manuscripts

I thought I was the queen of ridiculously long WIP playlists. Then

Kody

said her playlists have over 100 songs, which puts my 60+ to shame. But it's still plenty. Why so many? Two reasons: One, I write dual POV, which means I'm constantly switching back and forth in tone; two, I have at least one song for every. single. scene, listed on my Excel outline beside the chapter number, location, date...

Yes. I am that anal.

Anyway! I have

posted before

about the songs that really inspired my contemporary,

After the Fall

, and the song that partially

inspired its title

. But there are a few other songs that have become so indelibly linked to

ATF

in my head that I stop and sigh when I hear them.

Way back before I even joined YA Highway, I posted

the theme songs

for my paranormal,

Refuge,

with the earlier incarnation of this prompt. But

Refuge

is becoming a totally new and different book, and with those changes have come changes to

its playlist

. These songs are my mental accompaniment to the first three scenes:

and a few that represent the schizophrenic nature of a paranormal about good ole boys:

I'm also working (mentally, not on paper) on a second contemporary that has several working titles, and I don't like any of them. (

A Month of Sundays. Jezebel.

*thumbs down*) It's outlined and whenever I hear a possible song for its playlist, I toss it on

here

.

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered.

We'd love for you to participate
