Divergent Faction-of-the-Week

Kate Hart
So once upon a time, there was this writer, and she hung out on Absolute Write. And one day, I decided, "You know what I should do? Write a book. That is not a masochistic career choice at all." And so I found myself also hanging out on AW, and I met the aforementioned writer, whose name is Veronica Roth. And she was very cool.

Then summer came, and lo, we did gather posters from AW in Los Angeles, at a national gathering of similarly-masochistic people. And there was much rejoicing. And silliness. And rolling down hills.

And yea, we did wait many a long month, but at last, in the early days of the month of May, DIVERGENT finally freaking came out, and all were allowed to share in its awesome. And now, in our enthusiasm for this awesome book, and our adoration for its fabulous author, some writer friends and I are taking the Divergent Faction-of-the-Week Challenge, spearheaded by the lovely (and prone-to-singing-Wham!-songs) Debra Driza.

Here's how it works. Divergent's characters are forced to choose between factions:
DAUNTLESS—The Brave
CANDOR—The Honest
ERUDITE—The Intellectual/Knowledgeable
AMNITY—The Peaceful
ABNEGATION—The Selfless

THE CHALLENGE:

Every Monday for the next 5 weeks, Deb will announce the faction/virtue of the week. Over the next four days, we’ll be trying to perform at least ONE ACT that embodies that virtue/faction. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just something in we might not do in everyday life. Then, each Friday, we’ll all blog about our act. (I'll be posting on Thursdays or Saturdays, since my Fridays are kind of busy.)

THE GOAL:

TO SPREAD THE DIVERGENT LOVE. Tell your friends, get them involved—the more, the merrier!! If you'd like to join us,  head over to Deb's blog to learn more about this week's faction, Abnegation!
