Road Trip Wednesday: October's Best Book

Kate Hart
Man, everything I read this month was good, but here are my top three:

before i die scorpio races abundance of katherines

1. Before I Die by Jenny Downham:
Owww. My heart. Well worth the pain.

2. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater:
Unlike anything else I've read in YA, including Maggie's own books.

3. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green:
Almost too clever for its own good. As always, John made me laugh until I cried at random intervals.

  5. SCORPIO RACES is so different and because of that I wasn't really sure what to think! Beautifully written, yes; YA plot and characters, not so much.

  7. Love ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES and I'm desperate to read BEFORE I DIE. It appears to be exactly the kind of heart-wrenching book I love. Thanks for the recs, Kate!

  8. An Abundance of Katherines was my first John Green read. I was impressed that it was a YA novel written by a guy with a male protagonist. I think I've said it before, but that's about as rare as good dialog in CSI:Miami (oh, and I heard a STINKER while my wife was watching it on the DVR last night... but I digress). Anyway, I enjoyed this. Clever idea, and well-executed. But while I read it this month, it was not my favorite. That accolade went to... read my blog! ;)

  9. I read An Abundance of Katherines right when it was released, and loved it even more than Looking for Alaska. Still need to get Will Grayson.

  10. Ooh, more books for me to look up on Goodreads! I love Roadtrips for this! Thanks!

They all look interesting, and I need something to follow-up Hunger Games while I'm waiting for my library to get Catching Fire.
